With a diploma in painting from LSAD in 1994, Johanna continued her studies at the renowned Motley Theatre Design Course, London in 1997. She worked successfully as a set and costume designer, for theatre, dance, opera and film, including at the Abbey.

As a consequence of a life altering health event in 2000, her creative path altered. Returning to her art studies in 2018 she received a master’s degree from Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork and in recent years she has exhibited her work in group, solo and joint exhibitions including open selection at the RHA Annual 2024 and 2025.

Earlier this year Johanna exhibited jointly with Michael Quane RHA. in PAPER - PENCIL - CHISEL - STONE, at the Lavit Gallery.  

Commissioned  by The Glucksman to make work for an upcoming Exhibition at The Glucksman, Nov 2025. Her drawings will remain part of The Glucksman’s Art Library Programme collection.

Her work is held in both County Council and National collections.

Along with their independent art practices, Johanna and her husband Michael continue to develop

2 STUDIOS : ONE GALLERY.

A work in progress, these two working studios and exhibition space open their doors to the public annually as part of Culture Night.
